We do not own nature, but borrow it from future generations. That is what indigenous people believe. They respect nature as it provides them with food, cultural identity and livelihood. But due to climate change they see their environment changing rapidly. ‘We have exploited nature for too long and now it is hitting back hard.’

Description

Rising temperatures and irregular rainfall have severely damaged the fragile ecosystem of the Mongolian steppes. Nutritious grasses for animals and grasses that hold the soil together with their roots have disappeared. Desertification is looming. According to Chantsaa Bat-Ochir, nature has been abused by humans for years, and now it is hitting back hard.
