We do not own nature, but borrow it from future generations. That is what indigenous people believe. They respect nature as it provides them with food, cultural identity and livelihood. But due to climate change they see their environment changing rapidly. ‘We have exploited nature for too long and now it is hitting back hard.’

Description

The Sami are deeply connected to nature, it is a crucial part of their life and culture. Reindeer herder Marja Skum wants to continue her culture and teaches her children the Sami traditions, such as cutting grass and ear-marking calves. But not knowing what the climate crisis will be like in ten or twenty years, and whether and how the Sami can survive in the future, is something they are very concerned about.
