We do not own nature, but borrow it from future generations. That is what indigenous people believe. They respect nature as it provides them with food, cultural identity and livelihood. But due to climate change they see their environment changing rapidly. ‘We have exploited nature for too long and now it is hitting back hard.’

Description

The Himalayan snow and glaciers are melting rapidly, which is bad news for the people of Upper Mustang. In the dry season, the meltwater fills the streams and water sources that they use to irrigate their fields. The disappearance of glaciers and snow causes severe water shortages, resulting in failed harvests and eventually food shortages.
