We do not own nature, but borrow it from future generations. That is what indigenous people believe. They respect nature as it provides them with food, cultural identity and livelihood. But due to climate change they see their environment changing rapidly. ‘We have exploited nature for too long and now it is hitting back hard.’

Description

More than two-thirds of Mongolia is facing severe desertification. All of this has a devastating effect on the country’s biodiversity. Grass on the steppes is becoming increasingly scarce, riverbeds are drying up. Without grass and water, the herds of the nomads have no food. And without cattle, the nomads have no right to exist.
